Anthony Beckford

Anthony Beckford is the son of Afro-Carib parents from Jamaica. He is a Father, Veteran, published author, music artist, political consultant, community advocate and entrepreneur.  Anthony is a former City Council candidate for the 45th Council District in Brooklyn and former Special Assistant to Assembly Member Brian Cunningham in the 43rd Assembly District. Anthony is the founder of Save Our Youth Initiative, which has the sole purpose to engage with youth in our underserved communities to minimize their chances of being involved in gun and gang violence and to provide much needed resources and services to them and their families. Anthony has partnered on various initiatives for seniors and families within the district and throughout New York City. Anthony is an Executive Committee Member of the New York Progressive Action Network and President of Brooklyn Progressive Action Network, as well as Founder of the Brooklyn Black Political Caucus.

Anthony is the recent recipient of the Brooklyn Power List Honoree Award from Schneps Media, for his yardwork and dedication in the community, with his businesses and politics. Over the years, he was also given awards from various Elected Officials throughout New York City for his community service, advocacy and commitment. Under his former role as Special Assistant to Assembly Member Brian Cunningham of the 43rd Assembly District, he has written over 10 legislative resolutions (in which one has pass and the others will be introduced), has helped handle urgent constituent cases, create and organize community initiatives and programming, as well as start the creation of legislation that will create truly affordable housing, provide more pathways to ownership for tenants, provide safer streets and much more. He is currently working to finish up these key pieces of legislation, so that they can be introduced to both the Assembly and Senate.
